Observed and Expected Case Counts, with Standardized Incidence Ratios, 1998-2002.  Data from Massachusetts Cancer Registry, Massachusetts Dept. Public Health

All Categories highlighted in bright yellow have elevated statistics as compared to the Standardized Incidence Ratio (SIR) expected of at least 10% (or an SIR greater than 110) in at least one of the towns.  The light yellow highlights each specific statistic that meets these criteria.

·         Obs = observed case count; Exp = expected case count;

  • SIR = standardized incidence ratio ( (Obs / Exp) X 100);
  • 95% CI = 95% confidence intervals, a measure of the statistical significance of the SIR;
  • Shading indicates the statistical significance of the SIR at 95% level of probability;
  • nc = The SIR and 95% CI were not calculated when Obs < 5;
