North Shore AIR

North Shore Air Inventory Report

WHAT CHEMICALS, and HOW MUCH OF EACH, ARE IN THE AIR ?

As discussed in  What Types of Air Pollution Are Tracked and How – there  are two main categories of air pollution,  Criteria Air Pollutants and HAPs, although the tracking methods often combine, split, or add to the lists of each of these categories.  For simplicity, we will call the mix of Criteria and non-Criteria Pollutants tracked the “Category” chemicals, and the mix of Hazardous Air Pollutants tracked the “Individual” chemicals.

This report looked at the air monitoring results for ozone and particulate pollution, the most recent EPA data for specific chemicals from the 1999 NEI, and then also looked at the most recent data available (2003) from the MADEP’s Air Source Registrations and the EPA’s TRI/ MADEP TUR reports.
